Hi Roland
TMF702 is the "baby sister" of TMF640 - in fact TMF640 originally dealt with service and resource, but it was decided to split resource into a new API.
So in principle any pattern applying to TMF640 applies also to TMF702.
I think that you could use direct activation (or change) of a resource from a service order if this meets your needs and where you don't require the tracking and overhead of a resource order.
Hope it helps

Subject: Direct invocation of TMF702
In Positioning of TMF640 | Open APIs (tmforum.org), both the direct and indirect invocation of TMF640 is discussed. Does the same exist for TMF702 i.e.
- TMF702 can be internally invoked by an implementation of TMF652.
- TMF702 can be externally invoked (e.g. by SOM) in the case a resource order is not required. E.g. when there is straightforward mapping between a RFS and the related resource.
I apologize upfront if this has already been discussed in another thread in the community. I made some preliminay search and could not find a precise discussion of this point.
