  • 1.  TMF681 - Can we use this for PostalMail Communication to customers?

    Posted Jan 13, 2022 11:22

I am looking at TMF681 Communication Management API, and as I understood from the user guide, this API is currently designed to support SMS, Email and Mobile app push message type communications to customer.

We have a usecase where in we need to send a Postal mail communication to customers as well, can the TMF681 support Postal Mail communication?

    Thanks

    Interesting question, Venkat.
You are certainly correct that the API was conceived to manage electronic communication to parties. This is encoded in the Receiver entity.
I think we could argue that we should be using ContactMedium as a sub-entity of Receiver, which would allow additional methods of contact to be represented (including postal addresses).
But in the end, the implementation of the API would need to support letter sending, and you may not be able to get confirmation that the communication was received by the receiver.
    Hope it helps

    Thanks Jonathan,
This helps. You idea of using ContactMedium as a sub-entity of Receiver seems sensible idea. We will give a thought on this.

    Thanks
