Systems and process that surround the provisioning part of Telecom services. From the stages of drawing, laying network elements, managing the workforce etc.

    Hi Gus

You might want to specify a bit more the nature of your query, are you trying to find more information, attract sales, or what.
In any case there are several people active in this community who have a lot of experience in network provisioning (not me by the way).
People such as @Dave Milham , @Kaj Jonasson , @Ludovic Robert , and many more.

    Hope it helps

    Hi Jonathan,

This is not really a thread to attract sales. Just wanted to connect wth people working on this particular field to see what kind of challenges they are facing and perhaps share success stories and/or lessons learned.

Myself I am currently working on a solution for a major operator to build an orchestrator to connect Provisioning Order Input, Workforce Management, SAP for WBS/Network tracking to give more visibility over the entire provisioning process and automate manual work.

    Hi Gus,

IT side of Telco operator Operations (OSS)  is my primary job, including network design & planning, resource provisioning, service order fulfillment, workforce management etc.

You're welcome to get in touch if you've got a specific topic to discuss.

    Hi Simon,

That's great. There is a lot in common in what we're doing.

I am currently working myself on a solution for a major operator to build an orchestrator to connect Provisioning Order Input, Workforce Management (CLICK), SAP for WBS/Network tracking to give more visibility over the entire provisioning process and automate manual work.

Can you tell me more about what you do for Design & Planning? Asking because I see potential there to have intelligence into reading and interpreting Drawings, for instance. Wondering if anyone already does that.

    Hi Gus,
Sound interesting What level of Provisioning details are you Looking for -
The core network Provisioning or the provisioning with BSS.
As for a order there is E2E provisioning happens .
At point there a thin line gap when the order provisioned in BSS and get completed in network.
Had worked with all such for 4G Operator previously .
Its great to connect !!! 😀

    Cheers

Thanks Dave. I will sure have a look.

One of the challenges we currently face is too many processes with a lot in common. There are several network provisioning program types:

    - IP-VPN
    - FTTH (Fibre To The Home)
    - Brownfield (Mixed technology)
    - Greenfield
    - Mobility
    - etc

For the most part they are the same. Our goal is to standardize and keep exceptions to a minimum, if any. There is some resistance however. Have you been able to implement a standard provisioning process?

    Hi Gus

The TM Forum makes a distinction between published materials and working materials.
    • Published materials are open to anyone who has registered as a TMF site user (and whose employer is a TMF member), which presumably you have done
    • Working materials are open only to people who are members of the project containing those materials. The IGxxx1 referred to by Dave is a work-in-progress in the ODA project. To access this you need to join the project, at this link (make sure you are logged in to the TMF site first). IBM's official contact for TMF will need to authorize this.
    Hope it helps

Jonathan is correct and I forgot to include the point that the latter docuemtn is a working draft and open to TM Forum members who join the ODA project - an oversight on my part.
You can join the ODA project at  https://www.tmforum.org/collaboration/current-projects/ after whcih the second link should work
This formal joinng of projects  is needed for IPR and Byelaw compliance on working materails.

The meeting notes fo this team under the ODA project  which you need to have joined (https://www.tmforum.org/collaboration/current-projects/) for these URLs to work.
Meeting note series is at ODA R20.5 ODA Solution Design Guides
And the recording for 2020-08-20 ODA Solution Design Guide Meeting Notes  is probably the most relevant
    Slides are:
ODA Catalogue Use Cases 2019 Dallas - S2F2.pptx
ODA Catalogue - Orange Best Practices 20200827.pptx
