API for number portability

    Hi All,

I am working on to explore to expose the API to query the number for portability which is mainly to show the owner of the service provider.
when going thru the document gb922-resource-order-portability, it seem related to SID instead of the API.

I come across TMF639 Resource Inventory GET api, but not sure if is correct API as that API is more related to inventory rather than number portability.

Is that any other TMF Open API that more suitable as per now?

    Hi Chio
The Open API team is working on a new API, TMF698, for number portability (or more generally for resource portability). It's early days, and I have no visibility as to when the design will be complete.
If you have any design ideas or requirements, it would be a good idea to voice them here so that they can be considered.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jonathan,

    Thanks for the information.
I have go thru the document in https://projects.tmforum.org/wiki/display/AP/TMF698+Number+Portability, but it more related to Number Portability Order.
But I was looking more on API to query the owner of the service provider.

Not sure if there any focal that?

According to the page you referenced, the proposed API does both the actual order (NumberPortabilityOrder) and the query (NumberPortabilityValidation).
If you think that there is something missing, please raise it, since you have access to the Confluence page you can presumably add comments, in the dedicated area at the bottom of the page.

    Hi Jonathan,

I can't seem to find any documentation for TMF698.  The link (https://projects.tmforum.org/wiki/display/AP/TMF698+Number+Portability) doesn't work anymore

    Hi Duc
The link you refer to is not publicly available - it's a working folder for internal use by the Open API team, sorry.
Still no news on when this API might be published, sorry.

    Hi Jonathan,

Is there any tentative timeline by when this Number portability API will be available. Is it under development or on hold.
Assuming there is still some time when TMF698 will see the light, what is the best fit for now, TMF641, may be? Is there any case study available for Number Portability implementation using OpenAPI standards.

    Hi Jonathan,
We are starting a project to provide number portability to new BU. Preferred solution is to use a TmForum API for this. TMF698 sounds like to one that would fit this requirement. As you explained above, timeline is still unknown on this API. Can you help with any update on this, or maybe a contact that could help share more details on this work. Timelines are of course of high interest, but participation in the work could be another approach :-)

    Hi Jonathan,

Do we have any beta release documentation or API contract for number portability, Any place we we can reference the data model. I am looking for Portability check API and Activation code generation API under port in model.

    Hey @Jonathan Goldberg,

We are also working through a Number portability requirement and whilst i understand that this API (698) is not ready i have a query about it.

I have been review the SID model for GB922 and it mentions that a NumberPortingRequest has a super class of ResourceOrder.

This made me draw the assumption that the status quo with the Open API's is that a number porting journey is best started by using the TMF652 resource ordering management. would you agree?

Even when this 698 API is ready whilst i did see the use use for a "resource portability" API why would the actual resource order to manage the port still not be raised via TMF652 which still seems to fit?

    thanks

    Dave

Hi David and all on this thread

I'm afraid that there is still no news on this API.
In general, on the point that David just raised, I wouldn't want to speculate on the interaction between resource porting API and other resource domain APIs. It does seem to me, however, that resource order might be over-the-top for resources that can be ported (e.g. TNs).

Afraid still no news, it seems that other APIs have taken priority.

    Hi Jonathan and all,

Do we have any update on number portability API? Please share some light if it is in the pipeline for 2023 or 2024?  or any design thoughts around portability API?

    Many Thanks!
