What view does TMF have on the product to service mapping? Is there a flow which shows how this happens and what TMF apis are involved?
I don't see anything in the 620 (product catalog) nor 633 (service catalog) that deals with mapping.

    thanks
    Lynn

    Hi Lynn,

You may want to refer to GB922 Catalog document which provides more details on the catalogs and relationships.  A snippet below :

Thanks @Rati Mehrotra for this reference.

@Lynn Dueck please note that the Open API catalog APIs are somewhat lagging behind the SID in representing product-to-service-to-resource mapping. For example, in TMF620 I have on ProductSpecification a reference to the possible realizing service specs and resource specs, but I have no information on which to choose (if more than one), or how to map characteristics or characteristic values. The SID does include characteristic mapping information, although even in the SID I'm not sure that complex mapping rules are represented, perhaps @Cecile Ludwichowski can comment.
In the context of the ODA, some work is being done on best practice modeling, and @Sylvie Demarest might be able to explain this in more detail.
    Hope it helps.

    Hi Lynn, Jonathan and all,

Indeed you're right Jonathan, in SID we don't have a way of describing complex rules to identify for example the CFSSpec corresponding to a ProductSpec. We can only have Product and Service Configuration that can help describing that a Product Configuration corresponds to a configuration of Service.
For SID 21.0, I just introduced possible complex rule to identify ProductSpec proposed by Supplier that can realize a ProductSpec. I totaly agree we should enhance the SID to be able to describe more complex rules including for characteristics translation.

    Hi All

I noticed that the JIRA request (below) to attempt to resolve the translations/mappings between product/service/resource characteristics remains unresolved (although it seemed to be planned for gen5 APIs).  Has a decision been made that the characteristic value relationships were insufficient for the majority of decomposition use cases?  IG1233 refers to rules which I presume would be referenced by the new policy sub-resource (currently at the product layer only).

[AP-1444] Need mapping between characteristics (and values) in PSR catalogs - TM Forum JIRA

    Thanks in advance!

PS: there is still a reference to this JIRA issue within the IG1228 use case 008 - Postpaid Mobile Line example

    Hi Dan

I'm afraid that we did not address this (so far at any rate) in the v5 APIs that were already published (including TMF620 Product Catalog).

Sorry, I'm not sure if and when we will address this, but I will try to promote it in a coming governance call.

We have published best practice proposals for product to service mapping in

IG1233 Product & Service Modelling Best Practices – Conforming to ODA v2.0.0
This was constructed using practical examples form BT and Orange and is being used in tthe ODA Functional architecture team and tte ODA call flows and API use cases

Forgot to mention that ODA  API Flows are being developed in the ODA Flow team ( sub-team activity in ODA Functional Architecture) and the work in progress is being progressively documented at:

IG1228 v4.0.0 How to use ODA - Realizing Use Cases with Open APIs DRAFT - Open Digital Architecture Project - TM Forum Confluence
You need to have registered on a Core Project and /or ODA project to access.
Your input and comment on this work in progress would be most welcome.

I agree with Dave a good start for @Lynn Dueck regarding SID entities and Open Apis (even thought not all of them represented: i.e. product catalog API, etc.) mapping can be found at IG1233:
