Service Catalog for Mobile in IG1228

    Hi @Roland Leners,

I am trying to understand the Service Catalog described in Figure 3 of IG1228 UC008. I am a bit confused with the terminology and the legend used for CFSs. One interpretation tells me that there is only 1 CFS called Network Service CFS (as described in text). But then it leaves me wondering that what are Mobile Line, National Voice Bucket, SMS Bucket and Data Bucket?

If I look at the legend, it tells me that Mobile Line, National Voice Bucket, SMS Bucket and Data Bucket are all separate CFSs but then what is Network Service CFS? I think same question applies to RFSs also.

    Regards
    Kinshuk

    Hi Kinshuk,

There are indeed multiple CFS. The attribute "Network Service CFS" is only an indication of the type of CFS specification (cf. the SID concept of ServiceSpecificationType). I copy @Abel Ruiz Huerta for confirmation.

    Hi,

Yes, that's it. The text in brackets refers to the type of element. We use the same format with the resources as well.

    Best regards,

    Abel

    Roland/Abel,

Thanks for your prompt response and clarification. This aligns with my thought process as well. So, we expect that the Catalog and Service Inventory must support the lateral relationships between 2 CFSs or between 2 RFSs as well. eg: In this case we have requires relationship between Mobile Line and all other Bucket CFSs. I think that makes a lot of sense. In the diagram, we have the SIM Card resource that is almost standalone. I think there is a natural affinity between the  Mobile Line CFS and the SIM card resource. If we don't have the SIM card, none of the bucket services will exist. Also, there are use cases around SIM Swap, Number Portability etc. that has direct influence on the Mobile Line CFS. Current Model only specifies this relationship between Product Specs, which is defined  in the Product Catalog. I think there need to be some relationship between them at the CFS layer as well that needs to be defined in Service Catalog.

    Kinshuk,

There is actually an implicit dependency between the SIM card and Mobile Line CFS via the logical SIM card resource (see figure 4). But it is not explicitly depicted on any of the diagrams. We will improve this on the next version and also correct the resulting shortcomings wrt orchestration (we actually overlooked the dependency ourselves in v1 of the use case).

    Best regards,

    Roland

    Hi Roland,

Are you planning to raise a Jira Ticket to track this change so that we don't lose the sight of it? Or should I create one?

    Hi Kinhsuk,

The correction has been done as part of v2 whose publication is imminent. If you want, you can raise a ticket and then check whether v2 matches your requirements.

    Best regards,

    Roland

    Hi Roland,

Thats a good point. I have raised AP-2992 to track this. Please let me know once v2 is released. I will review and close the ticket.

    Hi Kinshuk,

v2 is available on IG1228 How to use ODA – Using Open APIs to Realize Use Cases v6.0.0 - Published Deliverables - TM Forum Confluence. I do not know when it will be available on the public website. I am not particularly monitoring this as TMF notifies only one contact/company (and it's not me) when new documents are open for review by the TMF members.

    Best regards,
