Is there any Open API operation that is suitable to support function to validate if an equipment (e.g. modem, TV receiver etc.) is legitimate (based on serial number, MAC ID, customized business rules and equipment location) to proceed to activation?

I think I miss some information in your description (is legitimate? in TMF language ... compatible? with what? the services?) but please see my answer below:

As described in GB922_Product SID documentation:

    -----------
The ProductSpecification represents a product specification as perceived by the business user and specifies what the marketing operator wants to sell at a functional level (i.e. what are the capacities, which usages are available…).

    It can represent:

    • material goods (Terminal, phone, mobile, fax, modem)
    • or intangible goods (like an Anti-Spam service for email – that will be deployed on a traditional network or in a cloud)

When the ProductSpecification represents a tangible goods, it is associated with a ResourceSpecification. Corresponding Resources are stored in warehouses or bought to a supplier on demand.

When the ProductSpecification is a non-tangible goods, it is either realized as a CustomerFacingService (when the Service Provider is able to realize it) or bought as a ProductSpecification proposed by a Supplier (when the Service Provider is not able to realize it). For example, a Broadband know-how might be built or bought depending on the location of it.

    --------

THen at offering creationg time you are including the different components for assuring the compatibility and eligibility through rules.

A service may be available or not and you can check its availability through: TMF645
You are asking if legitimate ... assuming you means compatible .. this is provided by the list of CPEs included in the PO filtered by the compatibility rules.

    Hi Alan

When you say Legitimate, perhaps you could clarify - perhaps the reference is to validation against a blacklist (e.g. stolen equipment). Or perhaps you mean, as Santiago hinted, can the equipment support the product that the customer is attempting to purchase. Or perhaps you meant something else?

Specific use cases would assist here.
