    Hi Guys,

I am looking for the corresponding Open APIs for the below functionalities. Could you please help

    • CPE Inventory - Deliver the modem to the customer via logistic partners and fetch the track&Trace details
    • Credit Check - Submit the credit check/resubmit/withdraw
    • Identity Verification - Driving License or passport verification
    • Device stock Inventory - To view the stock, reserve the stock and release the stock

    Cheers,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran

I am not aware of current plans in the Open API program for APIs in the area of Credit Check and Identity Verification. Thinking about it, the providers of such APIs will generally be external to the Telco IT landscape, done by third-parties and with business domains that are not specific to just communications. So any APIs that we might design in this area would likely be stubs that would have to be adapted against the "real" APIs that exist out there. I am not sure that TMF would view it as valuable, or even does it have traction, to try to create standards here. But TMF is a member-driven organization so if you and others make a good enough use case it could be considered.

Regarding the first bullet, work is going on in the Open API team to create APIs for Shipping Order and for Stock Inventory, so watch this space :) .

Regarding the last bullet, TMF687, Stock Management, hopefully answers your need. Take a look at the early access Open API list here.

    Hope it helps

Is there any early visibility on the Shipping Order and Stock Inventory API?

I just saw a proposal from Orange and DT for an API :
    1. AP-2408   Contribution for digital identity API
    this may be of interest

    Thanks Dave for the reference

The proposal was reviewed internally in the Open API team earlier this week, indeed very interesting. But the use cases that are being studied there are establishment of a digital identity (standard type of flow of self-registration to a website, logging in, security question handling, etc.). I think they want to align with the OSIA initiative.
At any rate this is orthogonal to establishing absolute identity by means of official documents (passport, driving license, etc.) as per Kiran's use case.

Regarding Lancy's question about the shipping order, I don't know when it will become publicly available, sorry.

    Hope it helps

Jonathan thanks for those insights I didn't have time to review the use cases. Note what you are defining as strong Identify verification s  is something that tends to rely on government  issued paper and credentials.
    l UK government has a initiative    GOV.UK Verify - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
But I would imagine this need to be set up per sovereign jurisdication

    Hi Kiran,

For identity verifiation, you can look into: TMF691 Federated Identity API
For credit check, you can look into TMF696 Risk Management API (Beta release)

    Thanks Iwan

    Let me clarify:
    • Federated ID API does not (to my best understanding) deal with the type of identity verification that Kiran refers to. There are identity and authentication suppliers out there (such as Au10tix, iProov, and more - this is not a recommendation or endorsement) that may do this. Kiran is looking (I believe) for how a telco can interface to such suppliers.
    • Risk API (I'm the current owner of this API) certainly allows evaluation of risk in various contexts, feel free to use it :). But also here the API definition/implementation does not explicitly expose the part of risk evaluation that involves external credit check (against agencies such as Equifax, Experian, and more, again this is not a recommendation or endorsement). Kiran is looking for how to standardize interfaces to such suppliers
Note that in both of these cases (and in other cases such as payment processing, tax calculation, etc.) the calls to such agencies might be metered and charged for (obviously depending , hence the need to manage the way in which these are invoked. Especially for credit check a common strategy would be to cache a credit check result and rely on the cached information, until its expiry (e.g. valid for three months).

    Hope it helps

    Thank you Iwan and Jonathan.

Identity Verification - Yes as Jonathan said we are looking for the Individual or Organization Identify verification and would like to Integrate with external SaaS base vendors. This is for the buy journey and we would like to verify the evidence of identity before submitting the fulfillment request

Credit Check - Yes we would like to integrate with external credit check vendor and make sure the customer has sufficient credit score to purchase the product and services. Yes Jonathan, it is great idea to cache a credit check and use that information until it expires.

    Cheers,
    Kiran

    Hi,

Thanks you Jonathan for the clarification. Indeed, I did not see / understand the "external" aspect in the question.

    Best regards, Iwan

    Hi,

Although not directly related to the discussion about identity verification, the documents available for TMF910 depict some use cases showing the interaction between
    • a self-care app with which a user interacts,
    • an (external) identity management system through which a user is identified and
    • a commercial system for which a user is entitled to access and manage certain assets through the self-care app

These documents provide some "real-life" use cases where possible use is made of
    • TMF691 – Federated ID
    • TMF910 – SelfCare
    • TMF632 – Party Management
    • TMF629 – Customer Management
    • TMF666 – Account Management
    • ...

Thank you Iwan for pointing out TMF691 which is helpful in distinguishing certain aspects related to user, identity, party and the assets that a user may be entitled to manage.

Thank you Dave, Jonathan pointing out the digital identity initiative and OSIA which was not known to me.

    Hi Guyz,

Concerning the TMF696 Risk Management :

How to use this API in the case of a check at the relatedParty level or at the relatedPlace level?

My Business requirement is the following :

    - Give the RiskScore based on an address (RelatedPlace)

       -  This API will connect to an official Belgian CreditScore service in order to retrieve a CreditScore based on multiple factor linked to the address.

    - Give the RiskScore based on a customer (RelatedParty)

        - This API will connect to our BSS backend in order to retrieve the customer riskScore

    Thanks in advance.

    Fethi

    Hi Fethi

All Open APIs are just that, APIs - they are not an implementation, only a specification.

What you describe are requirements for someone who will implement the Open API TMF696, you are telling them that to implement a risk assessment based on place they should connect to this CreditScore service, and to implement a risk assessment based on a party they should use some internal score. Your internal score is presumably being maintained in the backend based on the customer's payment history, collection/dunning history, and so forth.

I don't think I have been very helpful here, sorry, but perhaps it's because I don't understand what exactly you are asking.
