Handling different ordering scenarios - Product Ordering Open API TMF 622

    Hi,

I have gone through R190.0.0 of TMF Open API 622 and tried to map different ordering scenarios considering multiple types of services mobility, fixed line voice & broadband with TV,  B2B Fixed, etc.

I want to understand, how this API can possibly be used in following cases:

    1. Multi-site orders - Orders involving connection which spans over multiple client locations like communication services MPLS/IPVPN
    2. Family Connection Bundles - A flexible bundle plan involving multiple connections for each member of family having contract associated to the bundle
    3. Multi-connection orders (like bulk) - A enterprise customer requiring 100s of phone likes and each line is treated as a single subscription

Is the current structure of product order sufficient to cater such type of orders ? Please share sample patterns if possible.

    @Ludovic Robert @Jonathan Goldberg

Please see if you can help. I am just looking for patterns or possible methods to map as I am trying to cover each and every coner scenario w.r.t. product ordering.
I have made some models, let me know if I should share.

    Hello Rabinder

For me the answer of your question is more on the catalog side. How are modelling these offers ? You'll will probably use multiple offering, bundle, relationship, etc... What are for example your business rules for a mobile connection Bundle like is there a volume limit for the group ? or for each member ? is this contract is linked to one line or to all ?  ... consistent & complete catalogue modlling is crucial.

for me if you're able to modelize your offer accordingly to the resources available in TMF620 product catalog you should be able to describe operation through ptoductOrder API and then describe inventory with TMF637.

    Hope it helps

    Hi Rabinder,
I agree to Ludovic that is is more a product modelling concern.
I can recommend the product addendum of GB922 (SID - Information Framework) for further reading.

If you have any example scenarios, I am happy to help with the modelling.

    Best regards,

    Dirk

    Hi @Ludovic Robert,

I completely agree with your points, that is the reason when I started the exercise of mapping TMF 622, I had first designed the different product models for these scenarios with example and then converted into an order with different patterns we discussed in different threads.

Now, can you help me validate if the different samples (the orders depict the product model) ? Can I send you and @Dirk Rejahl emails regarding this, so that it gets validated from product model and order perspective, because order has to be designed for each scenario like Plan modification, home move, upgrade/downgrade, etc. and hence I am looking for some inputs around same.

Please let me know if it is possible.

    Hi Rabinder

Unfortunatly not possible for me to validate this kind of work. This is not my role and I do not have the availability.
Perhaps TMF and @Dirk Rejahl in particular could provide support.

    Best regards.

    Hi @Rabinder Devnani
I am just wondering if you got an answer to the problem around multi-site orders. We are struggling currently in one of the implementation wherein we are selling SD-Ethernet product services to the customer on 200+ sites, i.e. is the order line item dependent on the number of sites or for 200+ sites there should be a separate order everytime or there should be one central site created and the order should be instantiated on that?

    Hi Shubham,

I am assuming in your mentioned service, orders for all the 200+ sites is captured in one order, then order for 1 site becomes an orderItem. Now whether you want to relate all the orders to a main order depends on the process & underlying solution. For e.g. if all the orders are dependent on main site order, then you might choose to relate them.

    Hope this answers your query.

@Ludovic Robert, any comments on this ?

    Agreed with you Rabinder :)
Order / multiOrder "construction" will be dependant on your implementation.
Order API allows you to manage multi-items, relationship between item, nested item (I mean describe an item hierachy), relationship to product, product hierachy, etc... and probably in future we'll introduce productOrdeRelationship (to link product order) so a lot of capabilities are here. I hope Shubbam will find relevant capabilities for the UC.

    Thanks

    Ludovic
