  • 1.  Ordering CFS with support Resource use-case

    Posted Sep 15, 2021 14:57

    Dear Community,

I am currently working on a service model to be supported in SOM that covers a site connectivity of a customer. Following the modeling best practices (incl. ODA IG1233), we came to a model where each Product is realized by a single CFS or Resource. However, we have now a use-case that we would like to validate with the community.

We are modeling a CPE Management Product (-> realized by CFS CPE Management) and a CPE Product (-> realized by Resource CPE). When the CPE Product is ordered in COM, an order for this Resource is directly sent to a supplier and the Resource entity data is filled in. The CPE Management Product will also be ordered when the customers expects the CSP to manage and configure this same device. In this case, the CPE Management CFS will be ordered to the CSP SOM layer. Now, on this order to the SOM (via TMF641), it is required to define the CFS but also its related Resource so that the SOM is aware of the type of device to configure.

    The question now is:
Is it possible to use the ServiceOrder API (TMF641) to order a CFS and include a resourceRef (via supportingResource) directly on it? Or, for this API, is the resourceRef only usable in case of RFS order items?

    Thanks.

    Hi Dibyendu,

I think ODA IG1233 recommends that multiple Product Specifications may use a single CFS Specification and not always a CFS for each Product. In your case, both CPE Management Product and CPE Product may use CPE Management CFS where CPE Management Product has a Primary relationship with CPE Management CFS and CPE Product has Secondary or Auxiliary Relationship with CPE Management CFS.

Now CPE Management CFS is a Technology agnostic abstraction, that relies on a specific CPE Resource which is technology specific. Thats why we have the Technology specific RFS abstraction in between them. In future, if you want to do the technology upgrade on the CPE, you can do it without disturbing your CFS layer.

    Hello
Completing Kinshuk answer to provide  API perspective:  it is completely valid, in my understanding, using the supportingResource to list the resource (resouirceRef) used to 'fulfill' the requested CFS. I will use a ServiceSpec entity to model the RFSSpec if I need to pass it.

    Hope it helps

    Hi Dibyendu,

You might find an answer in the catalogs of the use cases in IG1228. Some of the use cases involve products using a mix of CFS and Resources, where the CFS eventually decomposes into a resource specification that is (partially) shared with the product related Resources.
