I'm attending Digital Transformation Asia later this month so I've written a piece for Inform related to my presentation. It's mainly about the consumer side of 5G and where it will be most needed/relevant, and covers the results of a study we did on the matter. What are you all planning to use 5G for? Of course it will help to automate in the back end, but in terms of your consumer facing products/services, where might 5G be directly of use?

Have a read of the piece I wrote if you're interested in what we found:

Thanks for the link Rob van den Dam.
As you pointed out one of the uses of 5G is in Augmented reality. A bigger use would be in making Industry apps for the end consumer in the areas of healthcare, transportation (not just entertainment or TCU apps but a truly connected car with self driving) and these would high volume usage services.
There is another set of services which are dependant more on low latency like M2M Data Management, Cloud services etc.
And if you observe some of the operators are taking baby steps in trying to make 5G an alternative to Wireline services like IPTV, Internet etc.

    Interesting topic
We have run a number of 5G Enabled catalysts over the last three year . Quite a few of them explore the services that can be enabld by 5G and the impact on Management - which turn out to be quite significant and reinforce the points you make
You can see video on these 5G project by going to  https://www.tmforum.org/collaboration/catalyst-program/current-catalysts/
and selecting only the 5G check box.

Most support the points made in this posting
We have a report from the  5G rider on the storm catalyst   IG1194 Focus of services not Slices which should be available to members very shortly .
It can be found by those registered on our Open Digital Architecture Project  at  IG1194 Focus on Services not Slices. there are also associated JSON Schema examples of the concepts in this Catlaysts output
    I amd sure
