Query on standard for Transport Network

    Hi,

For traditional EMS / NMS systems, do we have any TMF standard based on REST APIs for FCAPS management of transport technology (like SDH, OTN, DWDM etc) similar to TMF-814? In other words, do we have any REST API based standard equivalent to TMF 814 standard?

As I understand it TMF814 is the IDL solution set for MTNM. Which is described as:
Multi-Technology Network Management (MTNM) is a CORBA-based Network Management System-to-Element Management System interface suite. Unlike Multi-Technology Operations System Interface (MTOSI), MTNM is solely at the resource level.

MTNM includes support for inventory, provisioning, fault management, and performance management. MTNM supports the management of these technologies: SONET/SDH, PDH, DWDM, Ethernet, DSL, ATM, Frame Relay, and Control Plane management.

MTNM is legacy now. Open APIs covering FCAPS include:

    • TMF634 Resource Catalog Management
    • TMF639 Resource Inventory Management
    • TMF664 Resource Activation and Configuration
    • TMF685 Resource Pool Management
    • TMF642 Alarm Management
    • TMF628 Performance Management
    • TMF649 Performance Management Thresholding
    • TMF686 Topology
    • TMF635 Usage Management
    • TMF688 Event Management
As far as transport technology goes specifically that domain has been been (mostly) removed from the TM Forum Information Framework (SID) in deference to the Open Network Foundation (ONF) Common Information Model (CIM) TR513.  The idea is to use "touch points" to achieve model federation (see Informal Inter-SDO Open Model Initiative (IISOMI)). You may use TMF639, TMF664, etc. for resources of all domains but may want to use polymorphism to describe transport specifically.

    Note Corrected Document number
BTW ONF TR513 is the overview of the Common Information Model. The detailed models are in TR512 . We do have a mapping document that explains this in TR275 Core Networking Resources Business Entities R18.5.1
