CSPs future business model relies on how effectively they transform themselves to be a digital enterprise than just a CSP. For this to happen, CSPs need to bring in more flexibility and agility in the way they do business. With Software Defined and Virtualized Networks; thin line between IT and Network would blur further. Which would pave the way for a CSPs to provide platforms for better collaboration. To the extent that Network functions are used as a web service by a product owner to arrive at more collaborative approach to product offering.

It's not an either/or question.  I'm also starting to thing we may be getting a bit too pre-occupied with definitions and drawing lines between things but that's for another post.

If you own infrastructure (network, etc.) you are by definition providing services of one form or another.  And you may elect to offer other types of services as well including various types of XaaS or even some kinds of content.  At the same time, you may be a service enabler to others in your ecosystem/partnerships/supply chain.

They key is to be able to do both well and to be able to switch between (or use) the ones that are most appropriate for the given situation at hand.
