    hi good day,

I am a Migration Consultant and I am looking for some assistance/guidance to migrate and Transform telecom infrastructure from A to B.
Is there a best practices guide that I can go through that could help me come up with a Framework that I can follow to achieve my goals.
If there exists some kind of a framework already, may I request your assistance to point me to it.
    Thanks in advance

    Regards,

Depends whether this is purely  a network migration question or a network management migration question .

We did publish as part of ZOOM - now incorporated into ODA Production team - a concept of hybrid infrastructure management based on ide of platforms. This allows one to control migration from current state ( legacy) to a future state. It is based on experiences form BT ( and vodafone and others)  where they made substantial savin,g reduced numbers of systems substantially and drove up agility.
    Have a look at
TR262 Management Platform Blueprint and Application to Hybrid Infrastructure R17.5.1
There are other associated documents references but this is where to start.
Note the API choices in TR 262 are under review as a result of more recent ODA production work in GB999 on 5G. ALso  we have just completed a TMF909 NaaS API component suite which will be the preferred API set when published
Feel free to contact me directly if you need more.

    Hi Muralidhar,

You want to transform your telecom infrastructure from state A to state B, that is from the current state (as-is)  to the target state (to-be), there are different possible options you can go for to achieve this, however, a well-tuned common approach is to apply the steps outlined in the TOGAF Architecture Development Method (ADM) phase D on Technology Architecture; you can find details of this through the following link: http://pubs.opengroup.org/architecture/togaf9-doc/arch/chap11.html#tag_11_03

Along with the above method, you can look into the eTOM process '1.5.3 - Resource Development & Retirement' through the following link:
    http://casewise.tmforum.org/evolve/statics/frameworx/index.html#/cwtype=single&cwview=diagram&cwid=152
This will provide you with more detail on the various relevant (eTOM defined steps) to develop your target infrastructure architecture as described in phase D of the ADM.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Dave,

Can you please provide some insight on OSS integration with NFV as part of ZOOM project. Do we have any specific APIs to be used for these integration.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Baskara,
as mentioned original work was mostly in  TR262 Management Platform Blueprint and Application to Hybrid Infrastructure R17.5.1
The API set is being reviewed in the light of work in GB999 User Guide for Network Slice Management R18.5.1 derived from six 5 G related catalysts. The plan is to update for R19 based on the current catalysts to be shown in DTW Nice w/c 14th May

On the specific point about virtualisation we did develop TMF664 Resource Function Activation and Configuration API REST Specification R17.5.1which is broader in application to  the ETSI SOL005/IFA012 work as it supports activation and configuration of hybrid legacy and virtualised implementations which was demonstrated in Two Real Virtuality catalysts. See TR255C TOSCA Representation of Virtual Firewall R17.5.0  for how we model ETSI NFV concepts as Resource Functions  ( nte this might be changes to simply FunctionSpec in later release based on a SID modelling discussion.
