    Hello all,

I'm fairly new to the telecommunications space, but have worked on a few projects for telecom clients especially in the cybersecurity and customer centricity areas, in my previous position. I'm interested in deepening my foundational knowledge of telecom technologies, network infrastructure and management systems, from switches/routers, to key protocols and key trends in the industry, wireless networks and eventually 5G.

My current focus is the application of AI and Machine Learning in the form of solutions, to different telecom-centric use cases ranging from network fault reporting, management and prediction, to customer-centricity use cases in media-centric telecommunciations firms. My main areas of specialization are data driven problem solving, machine learning and solution engineering.

What kind of learning resources would you recommend for someone with my skill set?

    Thanks
    Rajesh

If you are good at data analysis and machine learning concepts, then you may require only domain knowledge... For service assurance space,  you may take some online courses or videos on networking and OSI model... From there you can look for specific network types based on your client / customer to deepen you knowledge.

For data collection, you may need to understand the OSS architecture of your client...  All data mostly available in DW regulatory compliance and can be used for analysis

It is unlikely that you are going to be able to ramp up the domain knowledge to design effective solutions, this requires knowledge beyond the handbook and on to what goes wrong in the field, however, you need to get prepared to partner effectively with the domain experts, to start here I would recommend getting a handle on the language. Research the different technologies at the access,  transport, and Core on a typical service provider and create a comprehensive glossary of acronyms and definitions, understand how value is created for each end user service, this have changed a lot over the years but don't focus just on the latest, there is a lot of operational legacy infrastructure out there that present a lot of improvement opportunities.

Also, understand the typical organizational roles and challenges for each function, this will help frame discussion and bring a clear definition of success that is shared among the stakeholders. The how in terms of platforms and data points it is going to change from operator to operator so this will need to be a ramp up from project to project, but you need the context to be able to do it effectively.

    Regards,
