    Hello,

Based on some TMF input, I understand that TMF640 can also be used for activating & configuring resources instead of services.

Therefore, I believe the Resource Model would be slightly different from the services use-cases. For example, I guess the supportingService and serviceRelationship, don't exist in this case. However, is there a resourceRelationship possible or is the supportingResource the only possible "link" between resources?

Additionally, I would like to know if there's any document that specify the changes/adaptations on TMF640 for handling resources instead of services.

Thanks in advance for the help

    Hi Carlos

It's true that older versions of tmf640 were titled Service and Resource, but the Open API leads concluded that this was a mistake and that we should separate concerns.
A new API was defined TMF702 Resource Activation and Configuration - it has been published as beta (in the meantime only swagger), see Open API beta table. I believe work continues on the user guide (what we used to call specification).

    Hope it helps

    Jonathan,

Splitting both make the things more clear, indeed.

I will take a look and follow TMF702 progress.

I would then suggest that the description of TMF640 is updated. This is how it is today:
"The REST API for Activation and Configuration allows the user to retrieve, create, update, delete services and retrieve the monitor resource used to monitor the execution of asynchronous requests on a specific resource. Although all the examples given in the API specification are relative to Services, the same API can be used to Activate and Configure Services or Resources."

    Thanks for the input!

    Carlos,

You are looking at old information. It is true that TMF640 R15 was entitled "Activation and Configuration API" with resources in scope, however with R18 the title is now "Service Activation and Configuration" and resource has been removed. Please refer to TMF664 Resource Activation and Configuration API v4.0.

    Vance,

I see that TMF640 is no longer applicable for Resource Activation & Configuration and that the ongoing work of TMF702 will take it up.

Regarding TMF664, I think there's a misunderstanding there. Note that TMF664 is not about the resources but about resource functions. These resource functions can be provided from resources, services or products.
