    Hi All,

looking a little guidance here as it's my teams start with this model.  I have a need for an API that the end goal/purpose would be to reboot a device, something like a router.

the only one that seems to more or less fit is Activation and Configuration API / TM640.. but it's seems to be more aligned for services, rather then physical resource changes.

Any help and guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hi Philippe Chenier,

    Yes.. You are right..

I had asked this some time before

    https://projects.tmforum.org/wiki/display/AP/TMF639+Resource+Inventory+API+REST+Specification+17.0

Sometime back there was this Entity Provisioning API (TMF640 ) &

Resource Function Activation & Configuration API (TMF 664), which should be merged now

As mentioned TMF 644 may meet you needs it comes from a resource activiation perspective for both intent and detailed traditional approaches based on a 'Real Virtuality' catalyst results
There is a draft API JIRA proposal for merging TMF 640 and TMF 664 at AP-1031  but will depend on members resourcing the work especially the specification requirements. However I am pretty sure it will be backwards compatibility wth current TM640 and TMF 664 will be a major requirement.

Concerning TMF640 and TMF664, there is now a contribution that starts to analyze a possible merger of the two APIs, see JIRA item ZOOM-297. There is also a CR on the API project (provided by Milind Bhagwat of BT).

    Hi,

Understand TMF640 is now name as Service Activation and Configuration and there is new API TMF702 Resource Activation & Configuration.
For rebooting a device, should it be under service or resource?

As if the router is consider as part of broadband service, it should be with TMF640?
For rebooting the router, it not changing any feature/characteristic of the service, can it part of PATCH? or should it be POST as a task as rebooting a router would take while which the API should be async API.

    Thanks.

    Hi Chio
I'm not an OSS expert, but I would think that a router, or indeed any other network element (physical or virtual) would be addressed as a resource.
Interesting to see what other community members think.
