    Hi all,

TMF622- Product Ordering spec is used in our customer's system. The customer provides a 30% discount for another product in a product sale. For example, for someone who buys product A, subscription to product B is 30% discounted.
They keep this information in their own system and all subscriptions are realised from our system.  When the subscriber wants to subscribe to product B, our customer wants us to learn that a 30% discount is applied by querying their system and to start the subscription with a 30% discount in our system. We actually want to do an eligibility check while doing this process. Since TMF622 is used in our customer's system, our goal is to be TMF Compatible. Which TMF spec should we use for this eligibility check.
    Thank you for your help.

In general, checking for eligibility of product offerings would be via the Product Offering Qualification API TMF679.

However, you could also consider looking at the Promotion API TMF671, which allows you to author promotions.

    Hope it helps

Thank you for this answer Jonathan. Actually when I check Product Offering Qualification API TMF679 which says, "The Product Offering Qualification API provides a standardized mechanism for placing a qualification request to check offer commercial eligibility with all of the necessary parameters.". That "Commercial" word is a bit confusing for me. Is that really only for commercial eligibility or can we use it for any kind of eligibillity check for Product Ordering?
    Thanks

    Hello,

can we use it for any kind of eligibillity check for Product Ordering?

Technical "eligibility" is done by TMF645 and TMF679 is only for Product Offering commercial "eligibility".

TMF679 also exposes product prices. so if subscriber "has" Product A, then TMF679 can expose the discounted product price in its payload.

there 2 global approaches to your requirements:

    • 1: Price-driven: you sell one product B, which has multiple possible prices and the product price are dynamically calculated at runtime
    • 2: Product-driven: you sell 2 product offers (based on the same productspec):
      • Offer "B1" has the full price
      • Offer "B2" has the discounted price
    1. in case of offer B1, you use TMF679 to calculate the correct price based on our price or discount rules.
    2. in case of offer B2, you use TMF679 to check if customer is qualified to buy this offer.

Thank you very much for your answer. That was very helpful.
In our scenario, if a product X is purchased from operator A, product Y is discounted by 30%. But product Y is not in the product catalogue of operator A, but in the product catalogue of party B (different provider).
When the subscriber wants to buy product Y from party B, we need to go to operator A and query whether this product is discounted for this subscriber. We want to make this TMF Compliant.
Even if the products are in different product catalogue structure, I think the 2nd case you mentioned covers it.

So, when a subscriber wants to start an product offer from a product catalogue, can I find out from TMF679 whether the subscriber is eligible for the subscription operation they want to start? This is another case that we would like to cover for eligibility check for subscriptions.

    Thanks

sure you can use TMF679, assuming it has access to to all information needed to evaluate customer POQ.
