I was wondering if anyone has implemented capabilities for handling deposits (and/or other types of surety), and would be prepared to share their insights. Especially if TMF assets have been used.

There is definitely no appearance of deposit handling in the Open API area, and I'm fairly sure that there is hardly any coverage of deposits in other TMF assets (SID, eTOM, ODA). So there's room here for contributions in this area, perhaps.

I remember this was mostly an accounting topic, we created a product called "deposit" but it was not associated to revenue in accounting as deposit are short term liabilities, NEVER revenue.
we have this mention of deposit in the SID:

AccountBalanceType AccountBalanceType describes and defines certain type of AccountBalance.
balanceClass AccountBalanceType Class of the BillingAccountBalance, such as prepayment, deposit, bonus.
description AccountBalanceType An explanation of the AccountBalanceType.
ID AccountBalanceType «required» A unique identifier for the AccountBalanceType.
name AccountBalanceType «required» Name of the AccountBalanceType.
validFor AccountBalanceType The period for which the BillingAccountBalanceType is valid.

    Thanks Matthieu

Definitely makes sense that there can be a separate deposit balance, but it's not sufficient. On the contrary, this confirms my assessment that deposit hasn't really been covered.

I did a simple search of MODA (TMF full model, not publicly available, sorry), and found very few references. The Functional Framework (what was part of TAM) has a function called Deposit Management. But that's about it.
