  • 1.  How does the TMF documents are tagged/numbered/identified

    Hi!

I was currious to know if there is a logic in the documentation numbering and if it could help to search for specific documents? I mean, why some document are numbered GBxxx, some other are TMFxxx or TMFCxxx or even RNxxx and IGxxx. Is there any logic in this numbering? Is there an explanation or index? How are you finding the right document when you are looking for one specific subject? I would like to guide my colleague in their exploration of TM Forum but it is kind of uneasy... :)

    Thanks!

    Hi François

I honestly don't know where this is documented, but to my understanding, the naming convention is as follows:

    • IG - implementation guide - sort of a white paper that lays down best practices
    • GB - guidebook - explanatory book that gives more details on other published assets. For example the SID (information framework) is published as a model, along with guidebooks for the various domains (e.g. product, customer, service, etc.)
    • TMFxxx - Open API assets (user guide, swagger file, conformance profile, etc.)
    • TMFCxxx - ODA components
    • TMFSxxx - ODA end-to-end use case
    • RNxxx - release notes (I think)
    • more?

    Hope it helps

Happy to be corrected by someone official from TMF :)

    Hi Jonathan,

This is a good start! Thank you!

I'm leaving my post open for a few days in case someone official from TMF can complete/confirm.

This  page under Collaboration Process, Guidance and Governance - Collaboration Process, Guidance and Governance - TM Forum Confluence

Definition of TM Forum Document Types - Collaboration Process, Guidance and Governance - TM Forum Confluence

has a current approved view, but is  incomplete as we added TMFS series last year.

However you may find documents that deviate from these guidelines. C'est la vie.
