    Dear TM Forum Team,

My name is NGOC LINH (Nguyễn Ngọc Linh), and I am writing to you from VNPT, a leading telecommunications service provider in Vietnam. VNPT is strategically committed to transforming our network operations by adopting TM Forum's Autonomous Networks (AN) framework.

To facilitate this transition and support our technical staff, I have authored a comprehensive handbook on Autonomous Networks specifically in Vietnamese. The primary goal of this document is to serve as an internal educational resource, making the core concepts, architectures, and principles of AN more accessible to our engineers.

To ensure the technical accuracy and alignment of our handbook with TM Forum's official guidelines and vision, we would be deeply grateful to receive feedback from your experts.

Could you please advise on the appropriate procedure or direct me to the relevant contact person for submitting such a document for an informal review? We are confident that ensuring our materials are precise will significantly contribute to the successful adoption of the AN framework within our organization.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Best regards,

    Nguyễn Ngọc Linh

Title: Partial English Translation of VNPT AN Internal Handbook – Chapters 1 and 14

    Post:

    Dear colleagues,

As part of our ongoing collaboration, I am pleased to share the English translations of Chapter 1 ("The Evolutionary Journey of Network Operations Towards Autonomy") and Chapter 14 ("Relationship between ODA and AN") from VNPT's internal educational handbook on Autonomous Networks (AN).

This handbook was developed as an internal capacity-building resource for VNPT's telecommunications engineers, to help bridge the knowledge gap between their traditional university training (strong in classic telecom disciplines such as radio, IP networks, optical transmission) and the new paradigm of Autonomous Networks - a fundamental transformation in network operations and management (O&M).

Our aim is to ensure our teams have a solid foundational understanding of AN concepts, architectures, and principles (based on TM Forum frameworks and aligned with other SDOs), before we move into deeper engagement in AN-related workstreams.

I welcome any informal feedback from the Community, especially regarding:

    • Accuracy and alignment with TM Forum's AN and ODA perspectives

    • Areas where we might better reflect current industry consensus

    Attachments:

    • Chapter 1 – The Evolutionary Journey of Network Operations Towards Autonomy (EN)

    • Chapter 14 – Relationship between ODA and AN (EN)

Thank you very much for your time and valuable insights.

    Best regards,
    Nguyễn Ngọc Linh
    HR Expert, VNPT

Thank you for sharing your AN handbook. In my opinion, this is a thorough and well written document.

Chapter 3 does a great job of describing the road to AN. For an engineering audience your stepping stone framing makes it very approachable as they can start with what they already know and layer on new concepts. Your choice of technologies is appropriate and it flows very well.

The formation and development of autonomous networks is a long and complex evolutionary journey, starting from the simplest and most manual network management methods, gradually integrating advanced technologies to achieve a higher level of automation and self-management.

Chapter 5 lays out a concrete and pragmatic way forward in a digestible form.

Chapter 14 ties in ODA and the Business Architecture very well and will be especially relevant for a business strategy audience. I like how you've described the core principals and concepts, relating it back to the larger scope of the document.

ODA is not just an IT architecture; it is the strategic foundation and basic blueprint for building truly autonomous networks. AN, on the other hand, is an operational vision, realized through modular capabilities, open APIs, and intelligence embedded in the ODA architecture.
