Can someone please help me understand the resource Intent and its purpose within Product Inventory?

"Entity" is like a base class in SID.
A product, resource, service, partner, customer etc., is an Entity. It contains the basic attributes like id, name and description and virtual methods.

Sorry, misread the question and was not looking at the latest resource diagram where Intent is used in  TMF-637

    Hi Suman,

Entity 'Intent' within Inventory indicates/captures the technical commitment of a service provider towards its customer. This entity 'Intent' separates the commercial aspect of a product from the underlying technology that's needed to deliver to fulfil a service associated to the product, using the underlying resources listed in a resource inventory.

Within a traditional resource inventory, the resourceRelationship 'connectedTo' or 'contains' is used to establish the relationship between different components within a small slice of network. With entity 'Intent' associated to it can help us establish the intent of the service that was promised while purchase.

Service providers moving to a newer technology can identify the intent promised from associated resources inside resource inventory, irrespective of the product was sold, or impacting the sales catalogue. There could be multiple promotional products introduced, with one 'IntentSpecification' associated to it, thus delivering a straight forward network configuration to achieve such intent.

    Hi Sunetra,

Thanks for the response. Just as a follow up, would the intent identifiable from the Service? Can the customer intent change?

An example would greatly help to visualize the use case.

    Regards,

    Suman
