Last week at TM Forum Live! the latest in the Forum's series of successful competitive hacks took place. The solutions showed the power and flexibility of open APIs and how they enable rapid development and interoperability.
For two days, participants competed to build a solution that would impact industry or people's lives through an efficient design. Network slicing was exposed for the first time in a global hackathon which is one of the most anticipated capabilities from 5G.
The winner was Port-omatic, with its Southampton Port-omatic Smart Port Platform. The group used drones as a service to monitor the pollution ships arriving into Southampton port.
Joann O'Brien noted that this group demonstrated fantastic use of all the available technology and chose a problem relevant to both Nice and their home city.
Have you used Open API's with other open technologies to pull new services together fast? Additionally, how do you see network slicing capabilities impacting future enterprise offerings?
