    Hi All,

We have to resolve an scenario in which, from an external event, add a charge in a customer bill to be invoiced in their cycle.

Which API would you recommend to use in this case?

    As always, thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Juan.

    Hi Juan,

The CustomerBill is a legal document and once prepared is never edited. We do not add any charges to the CustomerBill from outside.  CustomerBill is a static document which once created by the biller should not be modified / updated from outside.

However the AppliedCustomerBillingRate can be added, it can be added for a BillingCycle and if it is an Recurring Charge then Billing Period can be specified by external systems.

Actual CustomerBill will be created/generated by the biller based on the rules in backend, it decides which unbilled AppliedCustomerBillingRates it has to pick up for the specific bill. So it can be a scheduled next bill or an immediate bill that may be required to be created. But this is done by the billing system and not from outside API

              Hope this helps.

    thanks,
    Nitin Patil

    Hi Juan,

I would use POST on the AppliedCustomerBillingRate from TMF678. The billing system should store this AppliedCustomerBillingRate linked to a billingAccount

On the next bill cycle the billing system should pick up this charge and a assign it to a specific CustomerBill.

    Regards

Just to clarify Koen's comment - this would be an extension to TMF678, which is currently a read-only API wrt charges (ACBRs) and bills, as Nitin pointed out.

Hello Jonathan and all, I have a similar question, if we need to post a billing adjustment to be included in next bill for customer, which API we can use to post the adjustment to billing system (e.g post the adjustment from payment system to billing system)? Does TMF678 provides option to POST the adjustment (charge) to be applied in customer bill?
    Thanks
