Along with my colleagues at the recent TMF Open API Specjam in London last week, I was upset to hear of the passing of John Reilly, one of the stalwarts of the SID in particular and the TM Forum in general.
I am sure that there are many people out there who worked with John intensively and can gave an appreciation of his qualities. From my limited encounters with John, I can say that I was impressed by his quest for truth and integrity. He pushed forward his views and agenda, even when perhaps they were not always popular.
The richness of the SID surely testifies to John's dedication, and hopefully this will be his abiding legacy.
    RIP John

Oh dear - that is a shock. I fondly remember John Sitting down with me for my first SID training at Nice some years ago as the only student enrolled in the SID class for that day (and passing the exam afterwards). Since that time, I've caught up with him at Nice and Dublin over the years.  It is indeed a sad day for us to loose John too early. I'm sorry to see him go. RIP John.

So sorry to hear this. Have received support over email for some clarifications on SID. He was always prompt with his response and even apologize for late reply, while offering support. May his soul RIP.

I had an opportunity to meet John a few years ago.  His passion for this domain was readily apparent and infectious.  His influence will be felt for years to come.

Thank you for updating the community about this sad event. I would not have know otherwise.

John was a very nice person, and a human beeing in the constant look for additonal understanding of how  everything worked, and how we perceive how all that works around us.

His work in SID is one of his legacies and one that helped me so much.

Hope you are in a better place now John.

As a staff member at TM Forum I had the pleasure of working with John, his patience and passion in teaching me how Frameworx has impacted the industry was greatly appreciated. A true gentleman who was a true asset to our organisation. His memory will live on in the work that we continue to do to drive the industry forward - thank you John and our thoughts and prayers and with you and your family.

Hello all, I wanted to let you know that I've written a remembrance of John for our Inform site -- I was fortunate to have edited John's last book Frameworx: Mastering the Digital World and during that time, I spoke to him nearly every day for 2 months. He was a wonderful person and we will all miss him. You can read my piece here. We've invited those who remember him to comment on this community page so that we may share those comments with his family in due course.

It seems particularly fitting that there are tributes to John on our Community. As one of the most active contributors over the years I'm sure many folks here will have read or been helped by his supportive and detailed responses to questions. This is testimony to John's passion for teaching and sharing knowledge with others.
For me John will be best remembered for his playful sense of humour that made him so much fun to work with. A true gent who will be greatly missed.

As John would say "Seeya". RIP Big John.

    Howdy John,

We worked many years together on this inspiring topic SID.

I'd like to specially thank you John for your patience with me during all these years and all what you learned me.

John, you have always been fascinated by the SID and you have always done your best so that everybody can understand and use it.

You were a good pal (as you were saying)! I'll miss you.

Very sad news to hear about the passing of John.
Whilst I only met him on a number of occasions in the mid 2000's during NGOSS/SID training sessions with Nokia, those memories are embedded as being key events and stepping stones in the evolution of my own career in Telecoms; not only because of Johns willingness to impart his knowledge, but also his ability to guide the answers to difficult questions, which showed his real leadership, delivered with openness, integrity and honesty.
John has left both a fantstaic legacy but also a lasting impression on many of us.
May he be fondly remembered and now rest peacefully
