    Team,

    Referring to TMF620 Version 5.0.0.

    Just wondering in fields of 'Category' - I can see a field "parent" which shows me 'Reference to a category in the catalog'.

    Here, is it possible that a sub-category also have subcategory under itself?

    Something like in attached JPEG above. Here in my illustration: 'Sub-Category-A' is subcategory of 'Sub-category'. If yes, then my suggestion below.

    It would be more beneficial if we have one additional field i.e. "Category Type", it's value can be 'Parent' or 'subcategory'. So any one looking at any category randomly will know for sure if they are referring to parent or subcategory?

    Please advise.

    Hi Chandresh,

    What would be the use-case? 

    Combination of "isRoot", "parent" and "subCategory" fields should be enough from my point of view to understand place of the given Category in the hierarchy.

    Dear Denis,

    Thanks for looking at my Q.

    I dont have a use-case right now. I agree, if isRoot is True indicates category is root of categories.

    I am going by definition of Category resource, which says: Categories can contain other categories and/or product offerings, resource or service candidates.

    As per my query, is it a valid scenario that a subcategory can have another sub-category under it? Can product offerings be grouped in Subcategory B, in my new image below? 

    In case my scenario is valid, then what will be the value of isRoot for Subcategory A?

    Hi Chandresh,

    Yes, Subcategory B may have Product Offerings and I suggest Subcategory A to have isRoot = false in this case.

    Here is an example

    the documentation says this:

    any category (root, parent, leaf) level, can have both product offerings and sub-categories.

    just like Amazon product catalogue structure.
