How multiple criteriaGroups are evaluated

  • 1.  How multiple criteriaGroups are evaluated

    I am trying to read and understand the Promotion Management API doc 4.1.0. I have the following questions

    1. Why both criteria and criteriaGroup are an array of objects and why do we need both of them ? if we needed multiple criteria we would just have them as an array of objects inside criteria. Why there is a need for another container criteriaGroup ?
    2. What is the difference b/w Discount and Reduction in promotionType? Please give a concrete example.
