Dear TM Forum Team,
I hope you are doing well.
Our team is currently analyzing the use of the Open APIs TMF673 (Geographic Address Management) and TMF675 (Geographic Location) to support address search capabilities exposed to our channels.
In particular, our channels would like to enable a "Google-like" search experience, where users can enter free-text input, which may include:
- Geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude),
- Partial address information (street name, city, references),
- Or a combination of both,
and receive as a result one or more matching addresses, ideally normalized and returned in a structured format.
In this context, we would like to clarify the following points with you:
- Do the TM Forum APIs provide any recommended approach for implementing reverse geocoding (coordinates to human-readable addresses)?
- If this capability is not directly covered by the APIs, what is considered the best practice-based on the experience of TM Forum members-for addressing this scenario, particularly in implementations that support free-text search?
- Are there any published guidelines, extensions, or best practices from TM Forum to support this type of advanced address and location search scenario?
Our goal is to remain as aligned as possible with TM Forum standards and the ODA architecture, and to avoid proprietary implementations where feasible.
Thank you in advance for your guidance. We look forward to your feedback and to any additional documentation or references you may be able to share.
Kind regards,
Camila
