  • 1.  Linking service order line item to a product order line item

    All

I have searched the forum for information on how to establish a relationship within the TMF641 service order line item structure to a product order line item, can anyone assist?

Additionally, being relatively new to the Frameworx, I wanted to understand how I transverse between the SID structures and the API structures, is there a linkage documented somewhere?

    Many thanks

    Hi Lynne

Currently, the Service Order model allows for relationships between service order items (via the ServiceOrderItemRelationship entity, but not to product orders.
It could be that a simple non-breaking change could be made here, allowing this relationship to point to order items of any type (service, product, shipping), etc., but this would require more analysis. @Ludovic Robert - lead for this API, might have an opinion here.

Regarding mapping between the Information Framework (SID) and the Open API, there have been some documents published per API (you will have to look for documents called TMFXXXA), that show this mapping, but this has not been done for the entire model. As a rule, the Open API model and schema is derived from the SID, with various empirical rules used to achieve the transformation, such as flattening class inheritance hierarchies, denormalization, relationship flattening, and more. These rules and guidelines are unfortunately not published at this time.

    Hope it helps.

    Hello Lynne
    (Thanks Jonathan for the mention).
We will probably need some illustration and UC description before to add this capability.
From my perspective the system receiving the product order in charge of the order fullfilment will trigger Service order (if product to be delivered is service based). Internally this system has directly or indirectly the link between Product order and Service Order but I'm struggling to understand why the link should be send in the service order. My assumption is that system receiving the system order should not be impacted by product fullfilment orchestration.

    Happy to get your perspective,

    Thanks

    Ludovic

Hi @Ludovic Robert - I was looking to establish a similar kind of relationship in TMF641 but our use case is between Service & Product not at the order/order item level. In our service order fulfilment system where Service Inventories are mastered, we wanted to store the Customer friendly unique identifier of the Root product (sellable product) which is further broken down into multiple services so that we could drill down to the services from Root product. Any suggestions on this please?

Hello Ludovic - We were looking to establish a similar kind of relationship in TMF641 but between Product & Service. We have a customer friendly unique identifier at the Sellable root product that we want to link against all the under lying services in Service order management system where service inventories are stored & managed as well. Any suggestions on this please?

    Hi Syed
Ludovic is no longer active in the Open API program, unfortunately.
The Product inventory (TMF637) already has a relationship to Service, I have recently opened a change request to add the relationship in the opposite direction, from Service (TMF638) to Product. But you can do this already as an extension, if you can't wait for my change to be approved and implemented (no guarantee BTW that it will be ...)
